Bike Drop Off Saturday Morning
This will be done through the Kidsport and Canadian Tire Jump Start programs. Preference is to give bikes to families in need, youth at risk, and low income families. If you are in need of a bike please come in to Sport PEI and take advantage of this great program and fill out an applicaton for a bike. Helmets will also be provide with each bike as long as quantities last. We are asking people to fill out a small application for so we can track who the bikes are going to and how many we are giving out.
Any person donating and old bike regardless of condition will receive a coupon from Smooth Cycle for $25 off any new bike they carry. One coupon per old bike donated. Only one coupon can be put toward a new bike. People donating more than one old bike will receive more than one coupon but cannot combine them to purchase a new bike. Only one coupon per new bike.
Sponsors for the event are Aliant who are operating the depots outside Charlottetown, Smooth Cycle, Canadian Tire, Kidsport, Jumpstart Sport PEI, Chandler Motor Repair and Cycling PEI.
Even if your old bike is in bad shape we will use it for parts and safe you the fee of disposing of it.
We could us a couple volunteers to help with this project, please meet at Chandlers Motor Repair at 8am if you are available.
Saturday Fun Crit
There is a ride planned again after the success of the two previous Crits for Saturday morning at 8am. It is a Crit/”Breaking Away” type event. We have a closed course half k, loop and the ride will be less than one hour. This ride is going to be FUN! Everyone is welcome. Please get your CPEI membership everyone needs insurance (REGISTER ONLINE). If you are new, or can’t get registered by Saturday contact, Luke MacDonald or register onsite. after. This is an on Road event but is open to all riders on all bikes.
We are hoping for a really good turn out, and may be able to turn this into a weekly ride!(when it doesn’t conflict with other events)
Meet at Sherwood Produce on Macaleer Drive.
Macaleer Drive is between Brackley Point Road and Mount Edward Road just North of the Bypass Highway.
Looking forward to another huge turn out!
Womens Road Ride
Saturday looks like the better day to cycle tour as Sunday looks windy and rainy and so does Monday.
This ride is an intriguing one. We will be cycling near the Fort Amherst National Historic Site around the peninsula, route 19 on the map.
Please meet at the Afton Hall, a community hall between New Dominion and Fairview. The building is yellow. Ruth thinks it is about 3kms past New
Dominion if you keep to your left while heading towards Fairview.
There are a few “rolling hills” that are not as steep as our Brookvale ride but more hilly than our Dalvey/Stanhope ride.
Looking at the map I can only imagine that it will be an awesome route to take photo’s of you all
Time to start is 2pm, aiming for 30kms. If we get to Nine Mile Creek we can decide from there to either continue to make a loop turning right at Canoe
Cove or turn back for a few kms to reconnect to New Dominion.
This weeks treat is “Banana Bread” and a “flavourful blend of Chinese Green Tea leaves and exotic spices, no aritifical flavours or colours”…well…that is what the box of the herbal tea reads.
I plan on bringing the large tea thermos with me so to share with everyone on our half way “treat and tea” break.
So looking forward to rejoining again.
See you soon, Ruth and Mary-Ellen
Map photo is below and Pat, thank you. We look forward to cycling with you
