As I tidy up after an evening of soirĂ©e and merriment to celebrate my campaign team’s hard work, I am reminded of the importance of ‘team’. In particular, how diversity and belief can truly bring success.
My campaign team is a microcosm of the larger community. Women and men with varied experiences ranging from healthcare workers to business owners, HR managers, technicians, retired civil servants, a lawyer, consultants, mothers, fathers…all with different perspectives, but all working toward the same goal based on the belief that anything is possible.
Over the years I have worked on many goal-oriented projects. Whether it was a marketing project, theatre presentation, business plan, athletic endeavour, or otherwise, the one element that resonates as being the key to success is ‘team’. Cohesiveness, leadership, balance, respect, elbow grease and creativity, supporting spokes connected to the hub.
“The wisdom of teams is within the team itself. It is not in creating the high-performance organization, managing transformational change, enforcing corporate performance ethics, or inspiring new dimensions of leadership. It is in a small group of people so committed to something larger than themselves that they will not be denied.” – The Wisdom of Teams, Jon R. Katzenbach & Douglas K. Smith.
I look forward to building more teams and working on behalf of the people in my district and beyond.
And I thank the great campaign team in Stratford-Kinlock for their efforts and commitment.
