Why…
Because I believe that by stepping forward to serve my community I can make a difference. Stratford residents have told me over the past few months that they want a strong voice in government, they want their MLA to know who they are.
What I am offering Stratford residents is quite simple:
I am dedicated to representing the people of Stratford in government on a FULL-TIME basis. There are over 7000 people to get to know. If I am to do the job the way it is supposed to be done, I don’t see doing it any other way. Stratford deserves to be heard. They deserve a strong voice in government.
Politics…
If Aristotle is right and we are indeed, by nature, political animals, then I would have to say that our very nature is our demise.
I know there is game that must be played in order to be in government. The game some enjoy and others despise. I fall into the later, but accept my player status. I believe that where we (Islanders) are failing is directly due to politics. The problems and issues with our health care system, education, and the environment fall on the shoulders of politics.
If I am to be different and do the work to stand up for my community, I have promised (and will be accountable) to not making the game of politics my focus. To keep grounded and remain true to what I have set out to do.
