Everywhere you turn in Stratford there are new houses being built.
Everywhere you turn in Stratford there are Tories turning!
Music to my ears, but more importantly, I’m glad people are standing up and speaking out about how they have had enough. (you fill in the blanks)…Enough_____________, enough _____________, enough _____________.
I’ve heard it all at the door, especially this week. Tax assessments, as in issue, is number one in Stratford. Family doctors, the environment and early childhood development are all top issues as well.
I had a unique day on Saturday. The rain pelted down hard onto the car window, as I darted back and forth from door to door pouncing over puddles with my red umbrella. I’m sure I looked like a very soggy, Liberal looking Mary Poppins. I did get a chance to meet some horses though….and they didn’t bite!!
Being allergic to all creatures great and small, I figured my daily campaign dose of loratadine would suffice for a barn visit. Unfortunately it did not and I couldn’t stay long to visit with the horses on the Kennedy Rd. There have only been a couple of places I needed different footwear, this was one of them. Great people and a great chat with the ‘horse lady’!
I must say, in keeping with the creature theme, a “BEWARE OF DOG” is a tad intimidating. But my curiosity always wins over and eventually I have my face pressed up a window searching for danger. Perhaps people use these signs because their dog really is dangerous, but I wonder if its more more about warning people that the dog jumps and licks alot. I’ve met several jumpers, and of course a couple of biters. All in all most dogs are friendly…hairy….but friendly.
The trail awaits, but before I go…here is a Facebook message I sent out to my group members yesterday:
Here it is Sunday again, and just 8 sleeps left before the real poll becomes a reality.
Can’t help but smile, though, after that big red tide surge on the front page in Saturday’s Guardian, but I didn’t dare read the details.
I’d rather not know as we approach the home stretch. There is much work to be done and many people still left to meet and chat with.
By all accounts, people are feeling that a change is needed. At the door it has been very consistent. People want a change, but they want the change to be something/someone they can trust.
Our leader, Robert Ghiz, has never been stronger. The other night at the rally up West he spoke with assurance and a fire and determination that left people feeling hopeful and confident that Robert will be a fantastic Premier.
As I sat and listened and watched Robert speak, I looked down into the front row of people and saw his mom, Rose Ellen, and her face said it all. A proud mother, no doubt, but it was more than that. She was witnessing, along with the rest of us, a man who has come into his own, and is more than ready to lead our Province into a more hopeful future. Quite frankly, I was moved, and I will never forget the feeling in the room that night.
I am ready for this week, and can’t wait to hit the streets.
‘Bon chance’ to the rest of the candidates, volunteers and workers.
Onward and upward!
