Nice to see a blue sky this morning. Yesterday started out with a nip in the air but warmth at the doors. Later in the day as the sun forced me to ditch my jacket. Things at the door got hotter!
The newly proposed school for Stratford was the hot topic of the day. I genuinely feel bad for many of the parents of small children who are angry right now. Here are some quotes:
“Do they think we are that stupid?”
“Why didn’t they say this 6 months ago when we asked them about it?”
“I am tired of being played.”
At the same time there are some parents who are happy about it. Here are some quotes:
“Thank goodness my child will not have to leave Stratford to go to school.”
“I don’t care how we get the school, as long as we get it.”
“I’m glad Binns promised the school, I just hope he follows through with it.”
Other residents without school-aged children do not think we need another school. Here are some quotes:
“If it is an issue of giving the children a better education, then let’s address that issue.”
“What will happen when the kids go to high school, will we build a high school?”
“I think we could use the money trying to get some doctors.
Aside from the school issue, people in Stratford are concerned about: public transit, property taxes, trails, quality of water, family doctor recruitment and retention, establishing a residency program on PEI, lawn pesticides, protecting and creating green space, speeding on the highway, are among many of the topics that come up.
Today awaits…see you out there!!
